Thursday News Roundup
A descent into madness.....All..well, most...oh O.K. a lot... of the news you missed from June 12, 2025.

Well today was a day. Whew. Just when your girl thought she could wake up, bed rot while drinking her coffee, and watch the Season 7 Premiere of Real Housewives of Miami….the world said “nope you fool,we’re goin’ ham today”. And ham it went, from major flubs in the MAGA world to war in the Middle East; escaped ICE detainees to Supreme Court Rulings: Here are the biggest stories I’ve been following. No rest for the wicked, amiright? Apparently no Housewives for me either.
Trump Base Turns Against Him on Truth Social
The day started strong with Trump announcing that his lofty and insane dreams of an all white America, were going to be scaled back in relation to farms and “leisure”. Seems totally benign that the man who runs hotels and golf courses decides that those should also be exempt from ICE enforcement. Nothing even remotely sketchy there. Not only did this mark yet another time when the very strong…not weak at all, leader, as he likes to be known, backed down amidst growing concern that his policies, well…they suck. Unfortunately, for him, the news was very poorly received by his base. When making the announcement on Truth Social, comments poured in by the thousands. Most of them relaying this sentiment:
That MAGA sure is a classy and decent bunch.
Kristi Noem Goes Full Fascist (Again)
Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) made a surprise visit to a press briefing at the federal building in Los Angeles where Kristi Noem was set to speak on the ongoing regime led invasion of the city. As he stepped forward to ask the DHS Secretary a question, he was quickly grabbed by DHS agents. Contrary to Noem’s public statements that he did not identify himself, he can clearly be heard on video, stating; “I am Senator Padilla. I have a question for the Secretary”. Once removed from the meeting room, he was thrown to the floor and placed in handcuffs. He was not formally arrested. (Not that it makes it better in the least, just adding that last bit in for accuracy. I’m not the New York Time, I strive for journalistic integrity.) In the aftermath, instead of issuing an apology, like a normal and decent human being, Kristi Noem decided to state that Sen. Padilla “lunged at her”, and that he never identified himself. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, took it upon himself to call for a censure of Padilla. Which is already idiotic on the merits of what occurred, but making it even more so….Mike Johnson is in the House, he holds no power to call for any such thing in the Senate.
Speaking of people who have no power, and the military invasion of Los Angeles….
Judge Breyer ruled on the motion for a temporary restraining order against Trump and his commandeering of the National Guard from Gov. Gavin Newsom.
While there is still more litigating to be had on this topic, and the ruling will certainly be appealed, for now the power to control the National Guard has been placed back in the hands of the state of California. Notable to this ruling is that while he specifically cites the misuse of Act 10 , which was the mechanism for which Trump assumed authority, stating in his order;
“Defendants misconstrue the plain language of § 12406, however. The statute permits the President to federalize the National Guard “[w]henever” one of the three enumerated conditions are met, not whenever he (the President) determines that one of them is met.”
He also took issue with the use of the word “rebellion”;
“31. Violence is necessary for a rebellion, but it is not sufficient. Even accepting the questionable premise that people armed with fireworks, rocks, mangoes, concrete, chairs, or bottles of liquid are “armed” in a 1903 sense—the Court is aware of no evidence in the record of actual firearms—there is little evidence of whether the violent protesters’ actions were “open or avowed.”
And since Judge Breyer has found that the use of Act 10, Sec. 12406 was not lawful, it makes the federalization of the National Guard a clear violation of the 10th amendment.
(At the time of this writing, the regime has already appealed to the 9th Circuit.)
Israel has attacked Iran.
Yesterday, the news broke that the United States Embassy in Iraq was under a mandatory evacuation of non-essential personnel. The Embassies in Kuwait and Bahrain were not under mandatory orders but staff was given the option if they would like to evacuate, they could. So, the attack on Iran was expected. As the rumors of an imminent attack on Iran spread in the days leading up to the evacuation, Iran threatened retaliatory strikes on United States assets in the region.
Trump indicated that he had spoken to Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him not to strike. I fear this may have been nothing more than setting up plausible deniability for the regime when all hell breaks loose. This is being confirmed in a very non-U.S. confirmed way. Marco Rubio and the regime are denying it. Meanwhile, Israel is thanking Trump and bragging about mutual coordination. Who do we believe in a den full of liars on all sides? This time, methinks it’s more likely Israel is telling the truth.
As of the time of publication, reports are coming out that Israel has placed the nation on high alert for potential retaliatory strikes. Coming in are updates that the goal of Israel was to strike at Iran’s nuclear program, citing them as necessary to keep Iran from developing a nuclear bomb. It is being reported that Gen. Hossein Salami, the chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps. is among the dead. Iran has closed it’s airspace, and scrambled fighter jets to intercept the Israeli missiles. We are two hours in, as I am writing this, and so far, there is no word from Trump. There is a rumored meeting in the Situation Room scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Hearings on Capitol Hill did not go well for the regime or Republicans
-Rep. Salud Carabajal (D-CA), told Pete Hegseth to “get the hell out” of the Pentagon, during Hegseth’s testimony before the House Armed Services Committee. The hearing was in reference to Pentagon’s Fiscal Budget for 2026. When asked if allegiance to Trump was a requirement for military service, Hegseth replied it was a “silly question”, which prompted this reply from the Congressman;
“You’re an embarrassment to this country. There’s been bipartisan members of Congress that have called for your resignation. You should just get the hell out and let someone competently lead this department.”
God, you love to see it.
-Governors from Illionis, Minnesota, and New York appeared before the House Oversight Committee to testify on matters regarding sanctuary cities and immigration policy. Oh, at least that was supposed to be the scope. Rep. Gill (R-TX) immediately began grilling Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker on his bathroom habits. Pritzker was not having any of it, inquiring repeatedly what trans issues and bathrooms had to do with immigration. The answer, of course is; nothing.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul was also not in the mood for shenanigans. Marjorie Taylor Greene started her questioning with whether or not Hochul was a Democrat, she would later remind the governor she had testified she was…to which Hochul replied “Yes, is that illegal now too in your country.” She would not stop there. Rep. Nick Lanngworthy (R-NY) would accuse her of criticizing Trump’s federalization of the National Guard. Her response was that he didn’t “understand basic civics”.
The House voted to codify DOGE cuts.
Today the House of Representatives voted on a portion of the suggested cuts using a mechanism called rescission. Rescission is the process by which Congress can remove funding previously allocated, typically at the behest of the President. The package voting on today would cancel $9.4 billion in funding from programs that offer refugee assistance, peacekeeping, USAID, NPR and PBS. It passed the House with a vote of 214 to 212, with all Democrats and four Republicans voting against it. It will now head to the Senate. It’s fate there is anyone’s guess. However, based on the House vote it is possible the Senate sees defectors to the Republican agenda as well.
In news that isn’t important but it gave me a chuckle:
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) found himself and his family uninvited to the annual White House picnic.
So Rand Paul did what Rand Paul does best, took to the media to call Trump petty and vindictive on Wednesday night. It is unclear if Paul became the only Senator in history to be uninvited from the event because he is opposed to the Big Beautiful Bill, or because he criticized the regime’s military parade, comparing it to North Korea and Russia. By this morning, Trump had posted to Truth Social that Rand and his family had been re-invited. Because of course he backtracked once again.
If all that wasn’t enough… (But we do get to end on a high note!)
It was a Supreme Court decision day.
Six decisions came from the High Court today. Four of them were unanimous. (I want to point out at this time that 9-0 decisions in the Court are actually way more frequent than most people believe. Part of this is due to the fact that only a few high profile cases, which often come with partisan splits, are the ones that make the news cycles. Many of the cases where all the justices agree are just not deemed that important by the media).
The biggest ruling of the day was A.J.T. v. Osseo. The case centered around a young girl with epilepsy who had requested evening instruction from her school to accommodate her disability. It was denied, which resulted in less instruction time than her peers. The lower courts ruled that since it could not be proven to be bad faith or gross misjudgment, the student did not have the grounds to sue. The Supreme Court unanimously disagreed with the lower court, finding for the student, with Chief Justice John Roberts writing;
"Schoolchildren bringing ADA and Rehabilitation Act claims related to their education are not required to make a heightened showing of 'bad faith or gross misjudgment' but instead are subject to the same standards that apply in other disability discrimination context.”
Much like the ruling last week in Ames v. Ohio, the court has once again affirmed that any sort of discrimination case can not be ruled on under the basis of some groups having a higher burden of proof than others.
Well, that’s all for tonight. Tomorrow is Friday, and I am sure there will be new and potentially horrendous Executive Orders dropping. I’ll be here ready to tell you all about them. But for now….I might try to watch that Housewives premiere. Wish me luck!
Well….you folks got lucky, I have one more story. (Also damn it! I just wanna watch my stories!)
RIOT BREAKS OUT AT ICE DETENTION FACILITY
Currently breaking in New Jersey: Delaney Hall immigration facility was plunged into chaos when food was hours late and approximately 50 detainees tried to take over the facility. There had been complaints in the days leading up to tonight of visits being cancelled and limited amounts of food or water being given to detainees. Some were complaining that they had not received food in 20 hours, and when it finally came it was a minuscule amount. Pushing over an outer wall, four inmates were able to escape. There were also reports of bed sheets being hung from the 3rd floor dormitory, assumed to be used as makeshift ropes.
Information is still coming in.
Some may remember Delaney Hall from the confrontation that occurred with Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, for which she is facing charges. I guess there was reason for Congressional oversight of the facility.
Godspeed and good luck, to the four who made it out. And Kudos to you for fighting back against the inhumane conditions the regime has put you in.
(Now, I am really done for the night.)
Thank you for taking the time to read! I’m glad to have you here.

Wow. The day was insane and HW of Miami was also insane. Based on the events of the day & on the show I don’t feel connected to what passes as our collective culture today. It’s a good thing.
Good summary of the madness. I somehow missed...all of it today. So thanks (?) for bringing me up to speed.....
