I was trying to explain Jill Stein to a non-American recently and basically said "there is no there there," meaning that she's done nothing to grow the Green Party into a significant force in American politics. She looks good to other "progressives" - her website has all the right positions (although I'd never vote for her based on her support of Assad). Thank you so much for gathering and presenting this story.
I fully agree. West is not my choice for POTUS, but the differences between their campaigns is stark.
Even more, Stein has never once addressed a single criticism. Instead she twists things to make herself the victim of the system, and blames every one else.
This is such a good summary, and I particularly like you pointing out the difference of a 3rd party campaign that is actually serious, because I remember Ross Perot. He was, indeed, everywhere. It feels like Jill Stein expects to garner votes simply by virtue of being the outsider, like we're all supposed to be so fed up with the two main parties that we say 'screw it, I'll vote for her.'
That’s exactly how I feel too. And she never answers any critique of it. The data is pretty clear that this isn’t a reasonable campaign effort. This was especially clear on Labor Day. Every single candidate had a speech. She spent the day on Twitter attacking AOC. It was weird.
I disagree- unless you are independently wealthy like Ross Perot or independently famous like Ralph Nader, our 2 Party system stems from works furiously to stifle ANY 3rd Party from coming to power. I find that interesting because the Constitution doesn’t specify that our government needs to be removed ruled by a 2 party system but it has devolved into one because none of the 2 existing parties can handle any true competition. Jill Stein relies on individual voters donations and volunteer services not billionaires and SuperPACS & billionaire corporations to finance her campaign. The cards are stacked against her. The corporate propaganda media machine also generally squeezes 3d party candidates from their news coverage. Our government is TOTALLY RIGGED against any viable 3rd party candidate. Especially when you have principles like Ms. Stein, who Was agree with the on all domestic policy does NOT support The ongoing Genocide in Gaza and will not feed on the billionaires trough of political bribes (aka donations) to influence her policy decisions.
Because even within her own party, she is raising less money per person than GOP or Dems. And the party she has been the figure head of is losing members. Which means she can’t even fundraise from people in her own party.
Look at West’s social media compared to hers. He’s a 3rd party candidate in the same socio-economic class. He is also an academic. Yet, he has 3xs the followers and presence than she does in the same number of years (approx 10yrs)
You’re conflating the issue. The issue is she isn’t running a campaign. Where are her appearances? What did she do on Labor Day? Issue a statement and then tweet relentlessly about AOC? That’s not campaigning.
Again, this isn’t a Green Party or 3rd party issue. It’s a Jill Stein specific issue.
IThe data simply doesn’t support that she is even a halfway decent candidate.
She isn’t new on the scene. And yet, she has only raised $97k compared to the 8 million she raised in 2012. And compared to West’s 250k this cycle. It’s either because she’s stupid, lazy, or she’s a predator. But she isn’t the victim of just being 3rd party here.
On a side note: I’m not sure what you mean by independently famous?
Does this look like someone that is laying down on the job to you? I could post hundreds mere podcasts and interviews that she has gotten ven in the mail past couple of months- It is unfair to argue that she is NOT trying to get her messages out when she is being constantly prevented from doing so by the mainstream media billionaires owned corporations that don’t want any 3rd party to be heard or considered by voters. She is doing all she can under the circumstances & I admire the strength of her convictions to keep fighting for at least appearing in most states ballots when the deck is so OBVIOUSLY stacked against her…
We aren’t going to agree here. I’ve seen better state level campaigns by 3rd party candidates and independents. I’ve worked on plenty of them.
I’m not going to pick apart her podcast appearances. But what I will say, is that she doesn’t promote them. Not even to her own supporters.
And again, no in person? Anywhere? Since Spring?
She spent Labor Day…a huge day for 3rd party candidates melting down on Twitter, blatantly lying and not addressing one thing AOC said, instead of having a pro-labor rally?
Just ask yourself how someone goes from being able and I raise 8 million in the same 3rd party, “woe is me, everyone is against us” position to now not being able to raise 100k while her party bleeds members. That alone tells you how unserious this campaign is.

Ok. Provide the data.
