It was. I knew it said the part about men. But I was shell shocked when I actually read it. I actually might see if I can get a meeting to ask questions.

I would love to hear the update on that.

That line in the bill, "Whereas health care for women should also address the needs of men, families, and communities as they relate to women’s health care" was what stood out to me too. I wonder if they are referring to a rapists need to know if his forced pregnancy is being terminated. After all most of this country gives them parental rights unless they're convicted of specifically rape. And we all know how hard that can be in a world of, he said/she said. I have personal experience with it as so many women do.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

The thing that sets me on edge about that line in particular is that it is so vague. You could be 100% right. But, it could also be even more nefarious. Do they want to set up a council that decides? Technically it could be read that way. What are the needs? Does disability meet the needs? ect ect

Do you ever think that republicans would love to make marriage more of a contract where we're more like employees than partners? Women in this country have fought so hard for equality but they want us to go backwards.

I think absolutely they would if they got the chance.

If I’m honest this sounds like the kind of nonsense that went on when I had my second child. 2006 certainly not the dark ages. I had a c-section kiddo’s head was just too big. While being prepped for that surgery I asked if while they were at it could they tie my tubes? I was told no, not for any medical reason, but because I needed to plan that procedure at least six weeks in advance and I’d need a signature from my husband, my PCP, and community health (the health department).

They also argued with me about getting my tubes tied. I was 35, I had three previous kids and my fourth wasn’t expected to survive birth or for much longer than that due to a genetic mutation. Still, they gave me a super hard time about it.

I would hope that the Dems would filibuster on this if God forbid it gets out of committee

You should check out @Jessica Valenti, she writes a daily blog called ‘Abortion Every Day’ where she looks into such issues. She wrote about this in one of her recent pieces, apparently it’s an attempt to provide a bit more structure (and oversight?) to crisis pregnancy centres.

What ever happened to separation of Church and State?! Why is religion even considered in laws?! It's not supposed to be... These people are pushing their beliefs onto others and are getting away with it... I'm sick of my rights being in constant threat. I am a woman. A HUMAN being. I am a unique individual with my own set of belief and morals that. I can make my own decisions. I KNOW what is BEST for ME. Every year I get older, I get ashamed of our country because it's not doing its job. It's NOT protecting me.
